What to do the next time you're outside with your child

Hey Reader!

Whenever my kids and I see new flowers in bloom, I use it as an opportunity to ask them (or tell them, depending on their age!) what they show us about Jesus and new life.

How do spring and Easter show us what new life in Christ is like?

Check out my Easter post to see how to make being outside an easy way to share Jesus with your kids.

He is risen!

Verse of the Week

The Mighty One, God the LORD,
speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to its setting.”
-Psalm 50:1 (ESV)

You can easily tell your child about God's faithfulness by pointing out how he cares for the Earth. Point out how the sun rises and sets each day. It's predictable, true, and doesn't change. That's because God is all those things: predictable, true, and doesn't change.

He is consistent, just like the sun's path is consistent.

In what ways are you growing in consistency this week? How can you let the motivation of who God is call you to strive for building good faith habits with your family this week?

If you're looking for ideas, be sure to catch my Instagram posts where each day I'm sharing a way you can connect with your child to grow in consistency.

Remembering Good Friday: Jesus' 7 Last Words

Hey Reader! Holy Saturday is a day of waiting and resting (see Verse of Week below). If you're anything like me, it's not restful, but a busy day of preparation. Take some time today and tomorrow to read one or more of the blog posts below to meditate on: the miracle of Jesus' 7 last words (from Good Friday, including what he meant by "Into your hands, I commend my spirit"), how Mary's story turned out way different than she expected (our kids don't always do what we think they will...do...

POV: You're a mom with young kids and stopped doing these 3 things

Hey Reader! I used to get annoyed that I had to do everything to try and help our kids grow spiritually. If we were going to pray at a meal with our kids, I had to suggest it. If we were going to talk about how to raise our kids to know Jesus, I had to initiate the conversation. If we were going to read scripture together, I had to start it and do the reading. I was really frustrated, as I wanted my husband/the pastor to be the spiritual leader of our family. But in that season, I knew that...

Here's something you didn't know about mindset that will change the way you teach your kids to do hard things!

Hey Reader! I've been thinking a lot lately about how I can help you be a consistent mom for your kids. You see when I had my first kid, then my second, then my third, what was working for me as a married woman with no kids was no longer working with 3 little humans running around. I'd try to do a quick clean up around the house and my 2yo would be working in another room to undo everything I'd just done. It felt like a game of cat and mouse or whack-a-mole. I'd pick up toys in the living...
